  • Overview

    The Proofreader will be responsible for quality control, proofreading and copy editing of copy/content in the production stage. This person interacts with multiple team members on materials in production to ensure the quality of agency work including, but not limited to: collateral and advertising materials, internal materials and other emerging platforms.

     

    The proofreader must be reliable, committed and enthusiastic with an eye for details and a strong awareness of the brands. This person should be a go getter and have a real appetite for learning.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Maintain cohesion and enforce quality control for all brand guidelines considering Client preferences and Corporate Identity
    • Proofread and copy edit all content at the inception of a project
    • Ensure all projects are regularly tracked and communicated to Project Manager
    • Follow process, editorial, proofreading and copywriting documentations provided for British, U.S. and Canadian English language varieties
    • Follow style guidelines for multiple products and brands, as a tool for the agency and the Clients
    • Conduct business with a can-do attitude to support busy rebranding efforts
    • Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
    • Proofread, copy edit and evaluate quality control for assigned deliverables
    • Ensure quality checkpoints are accomplished before delivery to client
    • Set consistent standards for: clarity of expression, adherence to Client-mandated guidelines, continuity of writing
    • Apply consistent standards for: correct spelling, adherence to grammatical rules and adherence to backup copy
    • Edit, revise, and review copy in regional versions of English: Canadian, U.S. and British
    • Communicate any potential quality issues to Supervisor

    Qualifications

     

    • 2+ years related experience in some or most areas; digital, print, broadcast, CRM, Social and Web
    • Bachelors degree in English or related field; research skills preferred
    • Must have an outstanding command of the English language, with respect to grammar and vocabulary, to aid in editing materials and documenting processes
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Nimble flexibility required
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills
    • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
    • Comfortable working in different platforms and technologies
    • Adept at working effectively under pressure, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
    • Agency and/or hospitality experience a plus
    • Comfortable working in an open environment
